Our 3rd trip to the Keystone State in less than 2 weeks to celebrate my cousin's graduation. Graduation from..... kindergarten...? Nope. High school...? Not quite. College...? Please. Try...... Doctor of Veterniary Medicine!
Nick ran to Pop Pop and JUMPED into his arms upon seeing him cross the lawn (it wasn't like we had just driven out together or anything....)
While the party got under way Nick entertained the dinner guests by tickling the ivories (after saying "DON'T TOUCH IT!" about 7 times I simply unplugged it - brilliant, if I do say so myself!) Next time I'll have to remember the tip jar...
Before heading back into the demure cocktail party with 2 antsy toddlers in tow I thought they should run off the 2 hours of patiently sitting in the car so we did a lap around the property and found..... DA' bears.
He timidly approached and asked if he could pet his golo. Sure... why not!
What about THIS bear? OK... go for it....
And this one!??!
Hey.... something's going on INSIDE this bear's golo....
He's got ANTS in his pants!
Better view from the front to watch as the ants marched through the bear's feet.
Then Adrienne joined us and discovered that the bears were STARVING.... for wood chips.
"I thought you're not supposed to feed the bears?!"
"Whatchu talkin' about mommy?!"
Nick's turn to feed him while she was keeping watch for the ant-poop parade.
As Adrienne was feeding one of the bears my mom did something VERY un-Winnie like....
.... she suddenly tickled her and growled ferociously in her ear. She made all of us jump!
What is with the adolescent phenomenon that makes kids eye each other up through an entire event and then suddenly become BFF at the very end of the night!? Well brief as their time was they had a blast playing super hero (aka running around in circles).
And of course there were a few photo ops with the Burke clan.
Now.... trying to explain to Nick that THIS Uncle John was Pop Pop's brother, NOT Uncle John who is daddy's brother, was like trying to get me to perform grade school math. He finally threw in the towel when he declared "I like your shirt!".
Who cares about family lineage when you can bond over freshly startched linen.
Adrienne with her Great-GREAT-Aunt Jo

The new D.V.M. and her husband, Ed Norton.
Can you believe she's 3 years OLDER than me!? She looks SO young!
(ok, ok... I think I'm a decade, or some other painfully lengthy expanse of time, older than she is....)

Congratulations Kristin! Lots of love to you and the critters you care for!!!
